Matt of the Whomping Willows has just posted a new blog addressing all wizard rock bands about being approached by an indie rock label. He writes,
I am offering this to any and all wizard rock bands, regardless of whether or not you’re part of Cheap Rent: If you are contacted by anyone looking to include you on a compilation or sign you to their label, feel free to get in touch with me at thewhompingwillows@yahoo.com and send me the text from the email/message/whatever was sent to you. I will look into the record label and even contact them directly to seek more information. Of course, I will not tell you what to do — that would be silly and inappropriate. The most I can do is offer you advice. As much as a record deal or a licensing agreement/royalty checks may sound exciting, it’s very important to know exactly how your music will be used and exactly how much the label will benefit from your participation.
