Question Tuesday

Tuesday, January 6th, 2009

This week’s question will require a bit more than just a list of your favorite lyrics or songs.
We recently got a preview of a new song from The Whomping Willows‘ album that will be officially released at LeakyCon in May. It’s not a wizard rock song, per se, but a song about the wizard rock and Harry Potter community and experience - a metawizardrock song.

So, this week’s question is:

What do you think of metawizardrock songs?

Personally, I love the inside joke aspect of something like The Whomping Willows‘ ‘Wizard Rock Heart Throb’. I also thoroughly enjoy hearing wrockers sing about what the fandom means to them, like in Oliver Boyd and the Remembralls‘ ‘End of an Era’ or The Parselmouths‘ ‘This is Never Gonna End’. The only downfall is that they aren’t as accessible to people outside the community, even if they are already Harry Potter fans.

Christmas in…January?

Monday, January 5th, 2009

I am happy to let you know that Creevey Crisis and Malfoy Manor didn’t forget to get y’all gifts this year. They were just held up by some slow owls.

Creevey Crisis brings us an EP with eight tracks, cover art, a printable booklet, and contributions from Gred & Forge, Snidget, and Tonks & The Aurors. It is titled ‘Maybe in Four Years’ and is entirely acoustic.

Malfoy Manor has also released an EP with six tracks and cover art, titled ‘What Is Right And What Is Easy’.

Though I would highly recommend downloading both immediately, there is no real need to rush. Neither has an expiration date.

Question Tuesday

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008

This week’s question might be a little bit harder for you to narrow down.

What are your favorite wizard rock lyrics?

For the sheer ability to make me laugh out loud, I like Draco and the Malfoys‘ ‘In Which I Kick Harry Potter In The Face’:
“I just kicked you in the face
Hey Harry Potter, how does your blood taste?
I know nothing could ever replace
The picture in my mind of your kicked-in face.”

For the pure message of the words, I love The Whomping Willows‘ ‘I Believe in Nargles’:
“You’ve got a voice and it’s imperative you use it
You’ve got the heart to know what’s right and choose it.”

“And it’s a crime to change yourself just to fit in
Let’s face it girl, there’s nothing cool about convention
It’s more fun to make your life your own invention.”

And, of course, Harry and the Potters‘ ‘The Weapon’:
“The weapon we have is love.”

Hope everyone has a safe and happy new year!
