One thing that I feel is especially unique of wizard rock as a musical community is its vast amount of charitable compilations. It’s a truly great thing, and it sometimes seems as if every area of outreach has been covered.

Enter Wrock Against Bullying, a CD put together by Jenn Somers. Jenn, herself, has two wizard rock bands; The Vanishing Cabinet and Essence of Dittany. She began her compilation in June writing in her blog, “I was a victim of bullying as a child and built up a barrier around myself. Dave from Order of Merlin shares his experiences at the Maryland NerdFest in this blog entry. He writes, “This show made me feel much more confident about what Order of Merlin is doing now. Finally, Sigilum Serpentis has opened an online store. It currently has t-shirts with their logo but according to the band other options will be available soon.

Several bands have posted bulletins and blogs announcing the release of the Wizard Rock Ep of the Month Club’s first newsletter. The newsletter can be found in it’s entirety on the club’s main website.

The Bezoar Project has released a new song called “Unhappy Birthday”. A short note about the song can be found in their latest blog.

Blue and Yellow Wand has posted a new filk called “Quaffle Ball” on their filk page. Lyrics and more information about the filk can be found at their blog.

And, in keeping with the theme of paraody, The Cruciatus Curse has posted a version of Britney Spears “Hit Me Baby (One More Time)” entitled “Hex Me Voldy (One More Time)”. Again, lyrics and notes can be found at their blog.

2 Cauldrons and a Broomstick have released “The Ending (When I Wake Up)”.

The duo of RiddleTM have posted “Fight or Flight” to their MySpace player. Lyrics are available here. It will also appear on the Letters From Hogwarts compilation. The official track listing for the CD can be found right here.

Hawthorn & Holly have another new tune, too, this one called “Pansy, Please”.

Neville’s Greenhouse has a new version of the Proverbs of Puremuggles song “Mothers of Hogwarts”.

New band Wrackspurt has released a remix of The Weasel King’s “Red Hair”. Wrackspurt’s version is called “Red Hair [Legilimency Remix]“.

The Vanishing Cabinet has released “On Thestrals Wings”. It features a flute and maracas and is the band’s contribution to Tonks and the Aurors’ TWLOHA compilation. More information can be found here.
